The brute force method of separating the Maya mesh and piecing it back together can be used, but that’s too time-consuming and Houdini has already created a better way of doing it the path attribute. (no, didn't test with vray.just a straight abc import) worked in Maya and also reading back in Houdini, I'm using Apprentice so cannot do an abc sequence.only 1 frame.

I am just trying to provide people with currently free useful software due to the outrageous prices of a license for some of the software that is available. When you export a model from Houdini using the ROP Alembic Output node, it comes into Maya as one mesh no subfolders or anything. However I am not sure about the learning curve for integrating all the abilities of the different software or how it will work in The Sims 4. This software can be used in conjunction with Blender and should assist in creating modified content.

The reasons for this preesumably is that anyone can get a noncom license with almost no effort and therefore these limitation keep commercial projects from using it to export to commercial applications or rendering it full res. With Houdini Apprentice, you have access to virtually all of the features of the award-winning Houdini FX to develop your skills and work on personal projects. Only in education edition I can export fbx. I would just like to let everyone know that right now Adobe Mixamo and SideFX Houdini Apprentice are currently free. Houdini Apprentice is a free version of Houdini FX which can be used by students, artists and hobbyists to create personal non-commercial projects.
