Moreover, since the utility design is inspired by the iTunes interface, you will find your way around quite easily: most of the frequently used tools are included in the top toolbar. The app’s main window is organized in 4 different panels: one for displaying all your library collections and categories, one for showing in list mode all the items included in a certain category, one for visualizing the attached cover art, and one for browsing the metadata info associated with the currently selected book. Effortlessly create your books database by using intuitive and efficient toolsīookpedia allows you to add new entries to your collection manually, but also comes packed with 2 very useful tools that will certainly reduce the time you spend on this task. First of, you can query different book sites in order to find the appropriate edition: the next step is to quickly import the metadata information with a simple mouse click. In addition, it also enables you to employ the iSight camera to quickly scan the book barcode: the app will search the same databases but will provide a refined result. Keep track of your books collection, organize the entries by category or smart lists, and find what you need in no time The app can perform searches on the following websites: Doghouse, Google Books, Open Library, Freebase, Wikipedia, Library of Congress, AbeBooks, Abbeys, IBS, Mondadori, Saxo, Casa del libro, BOL NL. On top of the books inventory and organization tools, Bookpedia also includes a search bar for finding specific titles without too much hustle. I know taste is a matter of personal opinion, but I truly don't believe ANY good designer can take a look at those templates and not be disgusted. At the same time, you can easily keep track of borrowed items, and even add entries to your Wish List. But still, the lack of proportion, alignment and visual hierarchy to the information, in all these view templates is incredibly low quality. I will not post it as a review (with stars) because I really believe these apps ARE good and I really hope they LOOK good in a near future.

How hard is it to hire some real and talented designers to create amazing and professional looking templates to make the apps "look" as good as I know they "are"? What good is it to rely on user contributed templates if (apparently) only amateur and/or bad designers seem to give it a try? There's not a single one that looks even slightly "designed". And yes I tested them all, including every single extra listed in the site. How I wish the "Info View" in all these 'pedia apps was not ugly as hell. Delicious Library on the other hand is beautiful to look at (it has a truly designed interface) but it doesn't offer all the functionality of the 'pedias. I own licenses to both DVDpedia and Bookpedia but have never been able to really use the softwares, because the Info Views are so bad.

I wrote this long winded review b/c before I buy an application I like to know pros and cons of competing software. Easy to import numerous books by 1 author. Saving interface is weird.ĭL- interface is wonderful. Program has some bugs to be worked out in reference to kindle books not being imported with author names. Imports books with the genre label filled in accurately.

The interface is awesome, imports kindle books, and can catalog other items besides books.

#Bookpedia book pro

Librarian Pro could be a really great program over time. Cover is not real easy to navigate to quickly find authors names. Interface is little boring when not in cover view. I click on the link and acrobat opens the book automatically. Link books to book picture in the library. Huge Positives with bookpedia- (reasons I bought the software). I wish all 3 companies would get together and combine their talents to make an awesome catalog software.

#Bookpedia book trial

I own the latest Delicious library version and have been using the trial version of librarian Pro. I have been using this program for a few days.
